Vindabona first appears in Iron Gold as a massive cube hauler, five hundred meters on each side, whose open-to-vacuum decks and lattice of tagged cargo containers make it a floating fortress of commerce and contraband. Its strategic position near the Gulf turns it into a flashpoint when it is boarded, exposing the fragile truce between the Republic and remnant Gold fleets. Across the series the vessel evolves from a mere logistical asset into a symbol of contested supply lines, its fate mirroring the wider struggle over who controls the lifelines of the post-Society worlds.
