Yorkton emerges in the first book as a glittering, high-tech Martian metropolis that embodies the stratified society of the Golds, with its luminescent sidewalks and liquid HC avenues masking the darker underbelly of oppression. Throughout the Red Rising Saga, the city serves as both a symbol of Gold dominance and a strategic battleground where Darrow's rebellion takes root. As the series progresses, Yorkton's gleaming facade becomes increasingly tarnished by the growing conflict between the rising Reds and the entrenched Gold hierarchy, transforming from a mere backdrop of inequality into an active participant in the revolutionary struggle.
