The Julii Sun Emblem—House Julii’s weeping sun pierced by a spear—begins as a proud, fiery-orange crest on black, marking Victra’s warships and uniforms in Morning Star. As the Rising unfolds, the emblem’s meaning shifts from a noble house’s heraldry to a rallying symbol for rebels who once fought against it, and finally to a banner of uneasy alliance when Victra’s forces join Darrow’s crusade. By the later books, the crest appears on hybrid fleets and mixed legions, visually declaring that the Julii legacy has been absorbed into the new order rather than erased.
