Maintenance Skiffs begin as humble, barnacle-encrusted utility craft used by lowColor workers for construction and repair, but are rapidly retrofitted into makeshift combat vessels during the escalating war against the Society. Their transformation from overlooked maintenance tools into frontline assault craft mirrors the broader uprising of the oppressed classes, as their unassuming appearance allows them to infiltrate heavily defended areas under the guise of routine work. Across the series, these skiffs evolve from passive instruments of labor into symbols of resistance, their craggy, stingray-like silhouettes becoming a common sight in daring raids and boarding actions.
