The Modified Heartspike first appears in Dark Age as a lethal, genetically altered weapon of war, engineered to bypass traditional armor and defenses. Its introduction marks a grim escalation in the Red Rising Saga's ongoing arms race, reflecting the brutal technological evolution of the conflict. As the series progresses, the Modified Heartspike becomes a symbol of the increasingly desperate and dehumanizing tactics employed by both sides, fundamentally altering the nature of combat and survival in the Solar System.
