The Pegasus Locket first appears in Red Rising as a subtle heirloom of House Augustus, its winged-horse emblem marking Darrow’s covert allegiance to the Sovereign’s greatest rival. Across subsequent volumes the locket transforms from a clandestine token of patronage into a rallying insignia for rebellion, its imagery adopted by loyalists and insurgents alike. By the later books it has become both a literal key to hidden vaults and a symbolic standard of the rising against Gold tyranny.
