The Prisoner Muzzle first appears in Morning Star as a brutal instrument of control, a heavy metal device strapped across the face to silence and dehumanize captives. Its introduction marks a turning point in the series' depiction of institutional cruelty, transforming from a simple restraint into a symbol of the Golds' desperate attempts to maintain dominance over rising rebellion. The muzzle's presence underscores the escalating stakes of the war, where even the most basic human expressions become battlegrounds.
