The Restraint Muzzle Vest debuts in Iron Gold as a two-part suppression device engineered to neutralize high-risk prisoners: a headpiece with crawling metal fingers and an expanding rubber tongue-pin, paired with an inflating plastic vest that hardens into dark polymer armor, pinning the arms to the chest. Across the series it evolves from a simple restraint tool into a symbol of institutional control, its design refined to counter the unique physical and mental resilience of captured Golds, Obsidians, and Peerless Scarred. Its presence underscores the escalating brutality of post-Republic security forces and the moral cost of maintaining order in a fractured solar system.
