The Sentinel Drone debuts in Iron Gold as a compact, chrome-plated surveillance unit whose single red eye pulses like a heartbeat, serving as the first generation of autonomous security assets deployed by the Rising. Across the series it evolves from a passive reconnaissance tool into an active combatant, its hull and sensor suite upgraded to withstand vacuum, radiation, and direct fire while its onboard AI learns to prioritize targets and coordinate with allied drones. By the later books the once-solitary skull-sized orb has become the nucleus of coordinated drone swarms that can blanket entire hangars or city blocks, fundamentally altering the tempo and scale of urban and spaceborne engagements.
