The Thor-class Bomber first appears in Iron Gold as a devastating aerial weapon of the Republic’s new war machine, yet its role rapidly expands from a mere tactical asset into a symbol of escalating interstellar conflict. Across the later books, the craft’s deployment marks turning points in the Solar War, its massive payload and long-range strike capability repeatedly altering the balance of power between the Republic, the Society Remnant, and the Rim Dominion. By the series’ end, the Thor-class has become both a feared instrument of planetary devastation and a contested prize whose capture or destruction can decide entire campaigns.
