The Zero Legion Armor first appears in Morning Star as the distinctive black draconic skull helmets and dark purple body armor of the mysterious cohors nihil, a unit whose very name—'cohort of nothing'—hints at its lethal anonymity. Across the series the armor evolves from a mere visual marker of elite, expendable shock troops into a symbol of Darrow’s shadow war, its wearers operating as the unseen blade of the Rising. By later books the armor’s purple-black silhouette becomes synonymous with deniable operations, psychological warfare, and the moral cost of victory, transforming the suit from battlefield equipment into an icon of the rebellion’s hidden hand.
