Maggi begins as a seven-year-old orphan, scrawny and hungry, her brilliant blue eyes shining through a coal-smirched face. Her brief life is cut short by the king of Arden, and the queen cradles her body. She remains in the memories of those who witnessed her suffering, one of the lives that did not survive to see Delphi liberated.
