Queen Marina
Also known as Her Majesty, Your Majesty, Marina
- Supporting
- First seen · Book 1 · Ch. 3
Queen Marina carries the burden of rank in a guarded, slightly hunched posture, her tawny complexion and dark eyes lending her a quiet intensity. Fine silk and white fur frame her carefully composed presence, though a note of unease makes her seem more vulnerable than her title suggests.

Queen Marina first appears beside the king, taller than he is, carrying herself with a hunch and visible distress during a confrontation with miners. Later, dressed in white ermine-trimmed finery, she drinks wassail and collapses after it has been poisoned with gedden. She is treated with an antidote and recovers, her ordeal briefly transforming a composed royal appearance into one of fearful vulnerability.
Description
Marina is taller than the king, with tawny, dusky skin, dark hair, brown eyes, and a full mouth. Her posture tends to hunch, and blue veins show against her complexion; she moves with measured caution. Her royal wardrobe includes pale yellow gowns, white fur wraps and gloves, and white dresses with long trailing sleeves edged in ermine. Dark hair worn in a long braid and the contrast of rich fabric against her complexion give her a distinctive, solemn presence.
