The young server is first seen carrying tankards, visibly frightened, with tears streaking through the paint on her face. Her silken blond hair has been cut raggedly short with a knife, leaving a crude, helmet-like shape, and she struggles to contain her sobs. She appears again later in the book serving food and drink, but her story beyond these brief glimpses remains untold.
