In the throne room of Roslo Castle, the Guardian declares that Odessa, not her sister Mae, must marry Prince Zavier to fulfill both the Shield of Sparrows treaty and the Chain of Sevens bride prize for slaying seven female marroweels.

Outcome

Odessa's planned betrothal to Banner is shattered, and she is forced into marriage with Prince Zavier that very night, beginning her transformation from overlooked princess to unwilling spy and queen.
