Bluth seems cut from the same hard material as the road: blunt-faced, weather-beaten, and untroubled by discomfort. Under the shadow of his wide-brimmed hat, his stillness carries the unpleasant promise of force.

Bluth enters as a brutish mercenary in a slave caravan, his slablike face and cudgel making his cruelty unmistakable. He is one of the escorting men encountered along the road, dressed for heat and then rain in a broad hat and leather coat. The book offers little beyond this grim, passing portrait, but his violence leaves a sharp impression.
Description
Bluth has a flat, slablike face and a brutish, heavy-featured look. A wide-brimmed hat shades his head, while his dirty, front-laced shirt and weathered leather coat speak of a life spent on the road. He carries himself with coarse confidence, his cudgel and spear fitting naturally into his rough, utilitarian appearance.
