Falilar is an ardent engineer whose work brings him into the circle of scholars investigating unusual devices and their effects. He collaborates with his nephew Tomor and approaches testing with visible nerves, while remaining absorbed in careful measurements and schematics. At times his characteristic animation gives way to bowed, inward stillness, hinting at the weight of the scholars’ circumstances.
Description
Falilar is an old man with a shaved head and a pure-white beard, the beard so prominent that he sometimes keeps a hand in his pocket to resist tugging at it. He wears ardent robes and carries or reaches for a handkerchief to dab his head while working. His face and build are otherwise undescribed; his animated gestures and absorbed, slightly anxious manner are his strongest distinguishing traits.
