Formless begins as a possibility Shallan fears creating, then takes on a deeper presence as a frightening persona within her fractured sense of self. In the dark, she speaks with Adolin and presses her head to his chest, appearing through Lightweaving as Lusintia. Formless draws together aspects of Shallan, Radiant, and Veil, but the attempt to become a new, separate self does not hold; the persona is ultimately integrated rather than allowed to stand apart.
Description
Formless has no stable, independently described appearance; her visible form is a Lightweaving disguise. In the described manifestation she wears Veil’s coat and hat and carries a satchel disguised as a cloth bag, while appearing as Lusintia. Her underlying face, coloring, build, hair, and eyes are not specified. Her most consistent visual quality is the unsettling uncertainty of a persona trying to wear a familiar shape.
