Hanavanar
Also known as King Hanavanar of Jah Keved, King Hanavanar
- Minor
- First seen · Book 1 · Ch. 36
King Hanavanar looks built for ceremony and command: broad through the shoulders and waist, with a square brown beard and a prominent nose that make his face difficult to mistake. His fine royal clothes announce rank, but his heavyset presence feels more human and vulnerable than the finery would suggest.

Hanavanar is the king of Jah Keved, first encountered as a name on an assassination list and later seen presiding over a feast in royal finery. When danger reaches him, he takes up a half-shard shield and a Shardblade, but his attempt to protect himself reveals how fragile power can look at close quarters. He remains a brief figure, defined by the contrast between kingly display and mortal fear.
Description
Hanavanar is thick-waisted and thick-shouldered, with a square brown beard and a prominent nose. He dresses in fine clothing appropriate to a king hosting a feast, the richness of his attire emphasizing his royal station. A half-shard shield and Shardblade are associated with him, adding martial weight to his otherwise courtly appearance. His substantial frame gives him a solid, imposing silhouette.
