Leven appears as a civilian cobbler among the people being evacuated, accompanied by his wife. His place in the story is a small, human one: a working man swept into the movement of refugees, then briefly recalled as part of that crowd. The glimpse of him gives the larger upheaval an ordinary face, shaped by a trade and a life beyond the armies.
Description
Leven is a middle-aged civilian cobbler, though the text gives no specific details about his height, build, coloring, hair, eyes, or facial features. His appearance is best kept practical and modest, with simple clothing suitable for a working man traveling with refugees. Work-worn hands may suggest his trade, but no particular tools, accessories, or distinguishing marks are specified. His presence is that of an ordinary, quietly dignified man rather than a soldier or noble.
