The Lopen carries himself with an ease that makes even hardship seem briefly negotiable: a quick grin, a quicker accent, and a lazy salute offered as if the world were an old friend. Short and spindly, with one arm and strange slate-colored crystalline nails, he is difficult to overlook—and harder to take entirely at face value.

A one-armed Herdazian among Kaladin’s bridge crew, Lopen brings humor and nimble confidence to a life built around brutal labor. He remains a loyal companion to Kaladin, fetching water, joining the crew’s training, and helping gather salvage alongside Rock and Dabbid. His cheerful irreverence never erases the hardship he has endured; instead, it becomes a way of keeping the crew’s spirit alive.
Description
Lopen is short and spindly, with deep tan skin and brown hair; his face is not described in precise detail. One arm is missing, and his remaining hand bears striking crystalline nails the color of slate. He is commonly dressed in a plain vest or practical bridge crew uniform, with the sturdy, work-worn simplicity of a laborer. His posture often seems loose and unhurried, while his quick, lively manner gives him a presence larger than his frame.
