Niter has the plain, steady look of a soldier who has learned to make himself useful rather than imposing. His short black beard and tan face give him an unvarnished, grounded presence amid the rank and ceremony around him.

Niter serves as head of the Cobalt Guard, a lighteyes officer of very low rank whose authority comes through his position and competence rather than high birth. He appears briefly in the story, a practical figure within Dalinar’s military world, and is later only mentioned.
Description
Niter has a tan face and a short, neatly cut black beard. No further details of his hair, eyes, build, or clothing are specified, though he is a low-ranking lighteyes and the head of the Cobalt Guard. His impression is that of a disciplined, unshowy officer.
