Vaiu serves as Adolin’s primary jailer during his excursions, but his role is more than mere confinement: he explains the nature of deadeyes and guides Adolin into the legal training that shapes their encounters. A shorter honorspren with the solemn look of an old painting, he brings a measured, practical authority to the proceedings.
Description
Vaiu is shorter than many around him, with a full beard trimmed into a firm square reminiscent of an ardent’s. He goes bare-chested, wearing only an old-style skirt like an Alethi takama, and carries a winged spear whose silhouette recalls ancient depictions of the Heralds. His unadorned clothing and steady, formal bearing make him seem both practical and ceremonial.
