Medjel

The Medjel are introduced in 'Consider Phlebas' as the loyal, lizard-like companions of the Idirans, serving as semi-intelligent soldiers and aides in their galaxy-spanning war against the Culture. These 2-meter tall, six-legged creatures, with flat heads and docked tails, exhibit about two-thirds of humanoid intelligence, functioning as quadrupedal runners while using their front limbs for manipulation. Across the series, the Medjel do not undergo significant evolution or reappearance beyond their initial depiction, remaining emblematic of Idiran martial culture amid the broader narrative of interstellar conflict.
