Prison-Palace

Towering Gerontocracy palace doubling as a prison, with sheer walls, slim towers, roof mortars, and extensive internal plumbing including underground cells. Damaged in chapter 2.

The Prison-Palace, a towering Gerontocracy stronghold on Schar\'s World in *Consider Phlebas*, serves as both an imposing palace and a grim prison, characterized by its sheer walls, slim towers, roof mortars, and labyrinthine internal plumbing leading to underground cells. Introduced early in the series, it sustains damage during intense conflict in chapter 2, highlighting the brutal architecture of the Idiran war era. Absent from subsequent Culture novels, it remains a singular, evocative symbol of the Gerontocracy\'s oppressive rule, with no further evolution or mentions across the series.
