Nauvoo
unique_objectTwo-kilometer-long generation ship with cathedral-like stacked levels of alloy girders organically blended with pastoral meadows and agricultural substrate; patchwork construction visible inside, massive engines producing sky-filling fiery glow on full burn. Massive 2km-long generation ship: round stubby steel hull like cigarette butt, exposed framework, complete engines, bow hull assembled, huge 'Nauvoo' lettering, flank comm array.
The Nauvoo emerges in the series as a monumental two-kilometer-long generation ship, a patchwork marvel of steel girders fused with pastoral meadows, designed to ferry Mormons to a new star system and symbolize humanity's bold expansion beyond the solar system. Captured and repurposed by James Holden and his crew in Leviathan Wakes, it undergoes radical transformation into the UN battlecruiser Rocinante, its cathedral-like interiors gutted and its massive engines repurposed for high-g maneuvers. Though its identity evolves into the Rocinante across subsequent books, the Nauvoo's legacy endures as the agile heart of the crew's adventures amid escalating interplanetary conflicts and protomolecule threats.
