Shagrat first appears in The Two Towers as the ruthless captain of Cirith Ungol, whose authority collapses amid a savage power struggle with Gorbag, exposing the self-destructive greed that undermines Sauron’s forces. Description
Shagrat cuts a black squat figure, broad and powerfully built with coarse dark skin stretched over bulging muscles. His face is a map of scars, dominated by a wide tusked mouth that twists into perpetual snarls, under hooded yellow eyes that burn with malice. He wears ragged black armor pieced with leather and iron studs, heavy boots caked in filth. His presence radiates squat menace, a squat muscular brute built for brawling in the depths. A large, powerful orc with long arms that nearly reach the ground when he runs in a crouch. His harsh, evil-looking face is scored with claw-like marks, and protruding fangs show beneath a snarling mouth. He has a hunched, predatory bearing and wears dark, rough gear suited to a captain serving in a fortress of Mordor.
