Lightfoot’s foal, Snowmane becomes the faithful mount of Théoden, carrying the king with a swiftness that seems almost legendary. In the battle before Minas Tirith, a black dart strikes him and he falls, bringing his rider down with him. He is buried beneath Snowmane’s Howe, remembered in the words “Faithful servant yet master’s bane.”
Description
Snowmane is a swift, strongly built horse with a gleaming white coat and striking white feet. His powerful limbs and springing stride give him a spirited, almost radiant presence, while his bearing is proud and faithful. No further details of his face, mane, or tack are specified.
