Also known as Abu'l Fazl ibn Mubarak
- Minor
- First seen · Book 1 · Ch. 53
He is glimpsed through the authority of a written record: a scholar whose words preserve what might otherwise fade. The account offers little of the man himself, making his quiet presence feel like a doorway into another age.

Abu’l Fázl appears in the book as a Mughal courtier and historian whose writings are cited on Kashmir’s language and customs, as well as on the origins of the Nukdaris and Hazara. Rather than participating in Marco Polo’s travels, he reaches the reader through later historical testimony. His role is that of a careful recorder, lending the narrative a learned voice beyond the traveler’s own observations.
Description
The text gives no account of Abu’l Fázl’s physical appearance. His build, complexion, hair, eyes, facial features, and clothing are not specified, so a visual portrayal should avoid assigning them.
