Uchegin is named as the brother of Chinghiz Kaan and the great-uncle of Kúblái, and is also known in Chinese annals as Pilgutai. He commanded Kúblái’s forces against Arikbuga early in Kúblái’s reign, while Chinghiz and Kúblái bestowed extensive territories in Eastern Tartary on him. The account later identifies Nayan as Uchegin’s great-great-grandson, extending his place in the dynasty across generations.
Description
The text identifies Uchegin as a male member of Chinghiz Kaan’s family and a commander, but does not describe his appearance. His height, build, age, skin tone, hair, eyes, face, clothing, and distinguishing features are all unspecified.
