He has the open, uncomplicated look of a young soldier, but there is a quick intelligence behind his brown eyes. The little white rat on his shoulder lends an unexpected tenderness to his rough boots and military gear.

Ivan Pereletnyy is introduced as the central figure of a promised piece of pulp adventure, a sturdy young sergeant with a plasma Mauser and a white rat for company. His plain, practical appearance suggests a man shaped for action, while his alertness hints at more resource than his rough-hewn face first lets on. In the glimpse we are given, he remains poised at the threshold of an adventure rather than defined by its outcome.
Description
Ivan is young and solidly built, with broad shoulders and the sturdy frame of a soldier. His light-brown hair is cropped close in a crew cut, framing a simple, rough-hewn face with brown eyes, a snub nose, and conspicuously large ears; he keeps himself casually but cleanly shaven. Heavy military boots with metallic wraps, wide durable trousers, and a weighty holster carrying a plasma Mauser give him a practical, ready-for-anything silhouette. A white rat perched on his shoulder is his most unmistakable companion, softening his no-nonsense presence.
