Проводник

- First seen · Book 1 · Ch. 12
At first he is only a darkness in a courtyard, but his presence carries the unsettling intimacy of something that knows exactly how you imagine the world. His face is never quite a promise: it is a mirror, a mask, and a voice that seems able to reach backward into childhood.

The Guide from Here is a supernatural presence whose form answers the expectations and stories of those who seek him. He shifts through a succession of borrowed identities, from a cloaked swordsman and a child to figures drawn from familiar tales, before repeatedly returning to the narrator’s exact likeness in a camouflage jumpsuit. His uncanny power rests in that mirroring: he is both guide and reflection, a shape that makes the seeker’s own imagination impossible to ignore.
Description
The Guide’s form is fluid, changing between silhouettes and vividly different figures, so no single portrait contains him. His most settled appearance is an exact double of the narrator, dressed in a protective camouflage jumpsuit; the text does not specify the narrator’s precise facial coloring or build. At other moments he wears a black-and-silver cloak and carries a rapier, or appears as a blonde girl in jeans and a plaid shirt, among other guises. His presence is disquieting because each borrowed face seems both complete and temporary.
