As director of the Institute for the Research of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Yanus Poluektovich is a seasoned scholar and mage whose quiet counsel helps guide Privalov through an unusually demanding stretch. His existence has a double nature, with another aspect of him dwelling in a subterranean cave, a mystery that deepens his already uncanny presence. At a scholarly council he presides with measured irony, conjures a power socket into the table with a gesture, and gives Privalov a knowing wink. He remains a figure of composure and foresight, forever seeming to look a little beyond the moment at hand.
Description
An elderly scholar with a composed, unhurried bearing, Yanus is most memorable for his expressive brows and the sad, understanding curve of his smile. His face often settles into an ironic half-smile, giving his calm expressions a private wit. The text offers no definite details of his hair, eyes, complexion, build, or habitual clothing, so these remain unspecified rather than assumed. He carries himself like a practiced academic, and his measured presence seems to quiet the space around him.
