Dross begins as a floating, one-eyed purple spirit created by Northstrider in the Ghostwater facility, initially serving as a mind spirit bonded to Wei Shi Lindon Arelius. Across the series, he evolves from a simple informational construct into a fully realized companion, providing combat assistance, strategic analysis, and emotional support. His physical form remains consistent—a pebbly, round body dominated by a single large eye and expressive tentacle arms—while his role deepens from passive data repository to active partner in Lindon's ascent through the sacred arts.
