The gladiator is presented as a specially prepared slave, dressed and marked for a contest in which every detail serves the spectacle. Tall, muscular, and painted carrot-orange, he is armed with a sword-like knife and bears a hawk drawn in blood on his hip. His appearance makes him an unsettling emblem of violence turned into performance.
Description
He is tall and heavily muscled, with a shaved head and darkly pitted eyes that give his face a severe, unsettling look. His skin is painted carrot-orange, sharply contrasted by a green leotard and a red belt fitted with a semishield. A bloody scratch crosses his left forearm, while a hawk design drawn in blood marks his left hip. His stark, deliberate styling makes him seem less like an ordinary man than a figure arranged for menace.
