Over City Ruins is a sprawling, post-apocalyptic surface zone that first appears in Book 2 as the shattered remnants of the Over City, a once-thriving metropolis now reduced to rubble by the Dungeon’s arrival. Throughout the series, the ruins serve as a contested battleground where Crawlers, rival factions, and the AI itself vie for control of valuable resources and hidden quest lines. As later books progress, the zone evolves from a simple loot-and-survive area into a strategic nexus whose control can influence the outcome of entire floors, culminating in massive, multi-faction sieges that reshape the terrain itself.
