Frank Bryce, an elderly, very deaf Muggle with a stiff leg from an old war injury, lives quietly tending the Riddle House garden. Long regarded with suspicion by the villagers, he remains an isolated figure, more comfortable among the flower beds than among people. When he hears voices at the empty house, he goes to investigate, and his brief encounter with the returning Voldemort ends in his death. He meets that terror with the stubborn resolve of a man who has spent a lifetime enduring pain and mistrust.
Description
Frank Bryce is a slight, seventy-seven-year-old man whose bad leg makes his movements stiff and careful. His fingers are gnarled, and only sparse hairs show at the back of his neck; his face and bearing have the worn look of age and hard living. He wears old, practical clothes and carries a walking stick as he tends the flower beds. Very deaf and solitary in manner, he seems accustomed to moving through the world at a distance from its noise.
