Eustace Clementson is a lumber-mill owner whose influence rests on the mill that gives him his place in the delta. When Jason arrives, Clementson sweats, tries to interfere with Dean, and finally scrambles away on all fours. Left with his mill and little else, he sends word ahead to Thadwick and is implicated in bringing one of Thadwick’s lackeys into the effort to kill Jason.
Description
Clementson is presented as a man in city fashions, dressed with a polish that feels mismatched to the delta’s heat and working landscape. Sweat gathers on him readily, and his attempts at a composed bearing give way to an unmistakably nervous, fidgeting presence. The text offers no specific details of his face, hair, eyes, or build.
