Garth Larosse emerges in book 10 as a towering, nine-foot undead high priest of Undeath, his patchwork skeletal form cloaked in dark green and animated by glowing red eyes. By book 11 his body has become even more grotesque—six arms, four legs, and a ribcage that opens like doors to reveal beating hearts—signaling his deepening transformation into a vessel of his god’s will. Across both volumes he commands the underground clergy, directs the Avatar of Undeath, and relentlessly hunts Jason Asano, yet his authority is undercut when Boris Ket Lundi tricks him into accepting an incompatible messenger heart, planting the seeds of his eventual downfall.
