Alatheus emerged as a leader of proven valor among the Ostrogoths following Hermanric's death, guiding his people through the chaos of the Danube crossing. He commanded flying squadrons of Ostrogothic cavalry with devastating effect at the Battle of Hadrianople, and later perished leading his bravest troops against Roman forces on the Danube. His military career exemplified both the martial prowess and ultimate fate of the Ostrogothic people in their collision with Rome.

Description
