Andronicus IV Palaiologos, eldest son of John Palæologus, formed an intimate and guilty friendship with Sauzes, son of Amurath, at Adrianople. His conspiracy against their fathers led to his being blinded in one eye on his father's orders, following Amurath's command. As regent of Constantinople, he was repeatedly urged to help his father but proved insensitive to disgrace. His squinting appearance marked him as both victim and conspirator in the complex web of Byzantine politics.

Description

A young adult Byzantine prince whose most striking feature is his blinded eye, creating a visible squint that marks him as both victim and conspirator. His dark hair and noble features reflect his status as eldest son and heir, while his garments show the refinement of imperial lineage. His presence carries the weight of someone marked by both privilege and the consequences of political intrigue.
