Arcadius was the eldest son of Theodosius who received the name and honors of Augustus while still young. He was destined to fill the throne of Constantinople, and his statue along with those of his family was desecrated during the Antioch sedition. He would later advance to meet the relics of Samuel at the head of clergy and senate, delivering them in a golden vase covered with silken veil.
Description
A youthful Eastern Roman emperor with the dignity of imperial lineage, wearing purple garments embroidered with golden dragons. His diadem of gold set with precious stones and his presence on a massy gold throne mark him as the heir to Theodosius's eastern empire.
