Arrechis, Duke of Beneventum, stood as one of the last independent Lombard princes to resist the expanding power of the Carolingian monarchy. His refusal to accept inclusion in what he saw as the slavery of his country led him to assume the independent title of prince. His opposition, backed by the sword, represented the final resistance of Lombard independence against the tide of Frankish expansion.

Description

A Lombard duke with the commanding presence of an independent prince, his bearded face marked by both nobility and defiance. He wears rich ducal robes appropriate to his rank, with elaborate clothing that speaks to both his Lombard heritage and his royal aspirations. His build is sturdy, his bearing dignified, carrying himself like someone whose sword has preserved his people's freedom. Dark hair and beard frame features that reflect both the weight of authority and the fire of independence.
