There is something both commanding and austere in his presence, as if spiritual authority flows naturally from his very being. His eyes hold the depth of one who has chosen a life of simplicity and devotion over worldly comfort.

Arsenius Autorianus served as Patriarch of Constantinople and guardian to the young John Lascaris. His excommunication of Michael VIII led to his exile, yet he maintained his spiritual authority to the end, earning three pieces of gold by transcribing psalms while refusing to compromise his principles.
Description
An elderly patriarch with white hair and beard, wearing simple patriarchal robes that reflect his ascetic lifestyle. His gaunt features and dignified bearing convey both spiritual authority and the humility of one who has chosen devotion over comfort.
