Bargus was an infamous dependant who was promoted by Timasius to command of a cohort. Secretly instigated by the powerful eunuch Eutropius, he accused his patron of treasonable conspiracy. However, instead of receiving the expected reward, he was himself circumvented and destroyed by Eutropius, demonstrating the treacherous nature of Byzantine court politics.
Description
A middle-aged Roman dependant with the military bearing of one who has risen through the ranks of military service. His appearance suggests both the authority of his position as cohort commander and the calculating demeanor of one who has learned to navigate the dangerous waters of political patronage.
