Constantius II began as the young son of Constantine, inheriting the Eastern provinces at twenty and finding himself immediately embroiled in the Persian wars. Through years of military campaigning and political maneuvering, he emerged as the victor at Mursa, consolidating power until he stood as sole emperor. His reign was marked by the tension between his Arian Christian faith and his imperial authority over both church and state, culminating in his death at Mopsucrene at age forty-five.
Description
Constantius II possesses the lean, athletic build of a man who excels in gymnastic arts, with the straight posture of a skilled horseman and archer. His fair skin bears the weathered tone of Eastern campaigns, and his dark brown hair is cropped short in military fashion. Gray-brown eyes sit beneath a high forehead, and his angular face carries the serious demeanor of Eastern court protocol. He wears the imperial purple toga with gold embroidery and the imperial diadem, his hands marked by the calluses of weapons training.
