Ecdicius served as Praefect of Egypt, initially described as lethargic until awakened by severe reprimand. As son of the emperor Avitus, he demonstrated remarkable courage by making a desperate sally with only eighteen horsemen against the Gothic army, maintaining a flying skirmish before retiring victorious within the walls of Clermont. His charity matched his courage, feeding four thousand poor during times of extreme scarcity, while his private influence levied an army of Burgundians for the deliverance of Auvergne.
Description
A Roman prefect whose initial lethargic demeanor transforms under imperial pressure. Middle-aged with the bearing of administrative authority, wearing official robes that mark his position. His presence suggests both the weight of office and the capacity for sudden, decisive action.
