There's a quiet dignity in the way he carries himself, this young man of twenty years who has been kept from the heights his father dreamed of. His presence suggests both promise and restraint, educated in the Christian faith yet held in humble station.

Eucherius, son of the great general Stilicho, was raised with the hope that one day a diadem might rest upon his brow. Instead, he remained in the modest rank of tribune of the notaries until his twentieth year, educated within the Christian tradition that shaped his father's ambitions and his own quiet destiny.

Description

A young man of twenty years with a slender build, wearing the plain tunic and cloak appropriate to a tribune of the notaries. His dark hair is cut short in the Roman fashion, and his clean-shaven face bears the composed expression of one raised in Christian learning. His presence is modest and unassuming, marked by the restraint of his humble station.
