Eusebia was a native of Thessalonica from a noble family, daughter and sister of consuls, who married Emperor Constantius around 352. She became Julian's protector and patroness, arranging his marriage and elevation to Caesar, and later helped him obtain supreme command over the armies of Gaul. Her influence proved crucial in shaping the career of the future emperor.
