Eustathius of Antioch served as bishop during the height of the Arian controversy, his orthodox position eventually leading to his exile and the usurpation of his throne by an Arian prelate. His removal created lasting divisions within the Antiochene church, as the orthodox party formed a separate community rather than accept Arian leadership. Though his physical presence in the historical record is limited, his reputation as a venerable defender of orthodoxy endured long after his exile.
Description
An elderly bishop of venerable appearance, with white hair and the dignified bearing of long ecclesiastical service. His traditional robes and measured demeanor reflect both his age and the authority that comes from years of leadership within the church.
